Tim Beauchamp

BEAUDESIGN

My training philosophy follows the maxim that “form follows function”, so I primarily concern myself with getting the best functions from the body, with the understanding that the desired form will result. Originally certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, I still work with their training hierarchy of “stability before strength and strength before power” in a functional training that scales well with clients of all ages and athletic abilities. I see fitness as a lifelong pursuit, so I work with clients to set up a portfolio that helps them stay actively involved in all phases of their life, managing strength, flexibility, cardiovascular and balance. In cases of injuries or ailments, I actively work with client’s doctors, therapists and nutritionists to provide smooth transitions back to a healthy training regimen. I start all of my clients out with a variety of assessments to determine their individual needs, and while I primarily train my clients in strength and cardiovascular  work, I also consult with them on opportunities in yoga, Pilates and other health modalities to broaden their fitness portfolio. I currently train individuals or small groups, and am working on developing larger classes for cross training and outdoor adventure.

I am a big believer in cross training, and my own athletic experience ranges from being a varsity tennis player and swimmer, an instructor in alpine, telemark and cross country skiing, and an international competitor in judo and triathlon. I spent over 14 years in the US Army, reaching the rank of Major and worked with the military of several other nations in fitness and military specific training. I have been a personal trainer and fitness instructor for the past ten years in Seattle, spending the last 7 as a trainer at Sound Mind and Body Gym in Fremont, where I remain a fitness and cycling instructor. My experience has given me the tools to help my clients reach their varied fitness goals in a dynamic and progressive fashion.

My wife and I have employed Tim Beauchamp as our personal trainer for over three years. His very close attention to detail with us individually and tailoring our workout to our specific needs has been very much appreciated, and we both can credit this to our very good physical condition as seniors. I spent my career at Boeing until retirement in 2002, and for several years was president of a division that provided information systems and support services to the entire company. This included our physical fitness programs with a sizable staff of trainers and gym facilities. Had I know Tim then I would definitely have recommended that the staff hire him full time for our employees, and our executive staff at corporate headquarters.
